Jaye Meyer is a Board Certified Specialist in Family Law by the North Carolina Board of Legal Specialization and a Fellow in the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, and a Certified Family Financial Mediator. She has been listed in Best Lawyers in America® continuously since 2001 and in North Carolina Super Lawyers since its inception in 2006, where she has also received the Top 50 Women Lawyers listing from 2010-2014, and again in 2017, as well as the Top 100 Lawyers listing in 2011. She has been recognized by Business North Carolina magazine as one of the “Legal Elite” in North Carolina multiple times.

For three-quarters of her career, Ms. Meyer has shown staunch dedication to the betterment of family law practice and the legal profession at large in our state through multiple avenues of service. She has served on the Family Law Council from 1996 to1999, the Family Law Section, Chair from 2000 to 2001, on the Family Law Continuing Legal Education Curriculum Committee, as Chair from 2000-2001, and Vice-Chair from 1999 to 2000. From this service, she is the recipient to the Howard L. Gum Service Award, given meritoriously by the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association. She has served on the North Carolina State Bar, Board of Legal Specialization, Family Law Specialization Committee, and is past Chair of that Committee, and most recently on the North Carolina Board of Law Examiners from 2007 to 2017 and as its Chair during the last two years of her tenure (2015-2017).

Admitted to the North Carolina Bar in 1990 after earning her JD with High Honors from the University of North Carolina. She holds a B.A. cum laude from Wake Forest University. As past Chair of the Family Law Continuing Legal Education Curriculum Committee of the North Carolina Bar Association she has been a frequent course planner and speaker at Continuing Legal Education programs throughout the state on topics like: “Cohabitation Sufficient to Terminate Alimony,” “Use of Wiretap Evidence,” “Domestic Violence and Related Laws,” “Divisible Property and Distribution of Marital Assets,” “Family Law Basics — Case Management,” “Modification and Enforcement of Judgments in Family Law Cases,” and “Rules 4 and 45 of the North Carolina Rules of Civil Procedure.”

Ms. Meyer’s hobbies are hiking and running. She has completed 70 marathons since 1994.
